Fredericton comes alive for six days each September as hundreds of world class performers appear on dozens of stages, all conveniently located in Fredericton's beautiful and historic downtown.

History of the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival

  • 1991
    Founded in 1991, the first Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival spanned over 4 days, with 9,500 patrons, 25 musical acts and 17 venues
  • 1992
    First big top tent venue in year 2, 1992
  • 1993
    Grand Opening of Harvest Central, first CD compilation (of the 1992 Festival, and birth of the Festival's own Harvest cocktail
  • 1997
    Debut of the famed Mojo Tent, premier of the nightly pass and the must-see nightly impromptu jam sessions were finally put on the program
  • 1997
    This was also the Year the Ultimate Pass was born
  • 2000
    A staggering amount of community members volunteer for the Festival. In 2000, 400 people volunteered, a five-fold increase from 1991.
  • 2000
    First street closure
  • 2001
    The debut of Kidsfest (now known as Congo Square), a family-oriented day-long event of music, cultures and fun activities
  • 2005
    Blues tent gets a new home - behind City Hall
