Greening Our Harvest

The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival has begun an initiative to become a more environmentally-friendly festival. As an active and socially responsible organization in our community, we are doing something about it! Harvest organizers, patrons, volunteers, and musicians, are working together to reduce the 32 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions produced in connection with last year's festival.

Get onboard! It's our Harvest and together we will make 2008 even greener!

What are you doing to Green Your Harvest?

Now that you know how many tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions were produced from the 2007 Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival, it is time to think of what we can do individually so that collectively, we can reduce this number each and every year.

Want to learn more about how to green your Harvest? Want to know what we're doing? Check out our greening tips on this page and let's get the conversation flowing on our Facebook Green page.

Congo Square Goes Green

In keeping with the Green Your Harvest commitment, in 2008 the Congo Square family event is 'greening up' it's act! We are abiding by the old adage 'take only pictures, leave only footprints' - but in our case we want you and your family to leave with memories of a rich musical experience!

To reduce waste generated from this event we are putting our efforts into expanded Instrument Petting Zoo and Musical Workshop experiences, and we are leaving the craft station behind on our journey to green!

We will still have face painting with new enviro-friendly paints and the t-shirt painting station with attention to low waste and reusable supplies. But parents, we need your help! Help us by planning a low-waste day for your family at Congo Square - bring your own reusable water and drink bottles, use minimal napkins when purchasing food, and if you bring your own lunch try to make it a zero-waste one!

Help Congo Square continue to foster a musical and green Fredericton!
