The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival is seeking applications for its Operations Manager position.

The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival is an incorporated non-profit organization entering its 20th year. The Festival takes place each year over six incredible days in Historic Downtown Fredericton, New Brunswick during the third week of September and has been called the Best International Festival Experience on Canada's East Coast.

Our organization presents an annual festival each September that incorporates live performances and educational workshops in multiple venues. With the assistance of over 1000 volunteers, the festival presents upwards of 150 performances on 11 different festival stages spanning four city blocks in the downtown core. It also presents some jazz and blues programming throughout the remainder of the year.

The Operations Manager, a full-time position under the direction of the Board of Directors, plays a key leadership role for the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. In addition to having related experience, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • strategic thinking and planning;
  • initiative and problem solving;
  • organizational leadership;
  • results orientation and accountability; and
  • strong communication skills; and the
  • ability and willingness to contribute and thrive in a team-based and cooperative work environment requiring a high level of relationship-building.

These essential skills and competencies will be applied to the strategic, financial, and operational planning and delivery of several activities; with primary and supporting responsibilities for:

  • Infrastructure
  • Event Delivery
  • Security
  • Venue Signage
  • Green & Clean Initiatives
  • Bar Operations
  • Technical Support
  • Admissions
  • Concessions
  • Volunteers

This is initially a contract opportunity until the end of September 2010, with the potential to become a permanent appointment following the delivery of next year’s festival.
